Everyone take note...the Queen has landed on Kindergarten!

I knew this day would come.  The day that my "baby girl" is officially not a baby anymore.  I can already sense the change in her demeanor.  She is so ready to take it all on.  She has been colouring and writing letters with her left hand like a pro.  Marissa has such a love of learning and is happy to be joining Mark at school where she perceives great things are happening.  So she was packed up with her Hello Kitty gear and brought along for her first day of kindergarten.  Here are her special moments to enjoy.

You have to admit...they do not get much prettier than that!  Pretty in pink!
Marissa wanted to wear her new sweater but the day was actually too warm for it.  We did take it along just to make her happy.
This is her "preppy" look.  My heart melts every time I look at her.  I am so blessed to be her Momma.  I pray that some day she will say she was blessed to have me as her Momma!
She can hardly contain herself...look at that smile!  She is so happy to be headed to the school and not Daycare.
Her gift for starting school was the Hello Kitty backpack and lunch pail.  She is a fan of that cat!
Oh Mom...how many more pictures!  Her patience was wearing thin by this point.  Come on lets go!
She is telling me the backpack is getting heavy and its time to go.  I agree lets head outside...for more pictures!
Of course I had to add Mark to the photo...what would we do without our son...
Yep...its too hot for that sweater!  Off it came but the backpack had to go back on again.  She insisted on carrying the darn thing everywhere.  I had to insist it come off in the car seat.
Oh Marissa...the places you will go!  Do you see the road ahead?  What is in your future?  What will you learn at school?  Where will your learning take you?  The sky is not the limit!  To quote your brother..."to infinity and beyond"!

I can only hope and pray that somewhere in this journey you learn the real important things in life.  Things like, God's purpose in your life.  The value of hard work and an honest days pay, honesty in relationships, honour in doing the right thing whether you are being watched or not, fairness in sportsmanship, kindness towards those who are less fortunate, cooperation when faced with a task you do not want to do, determination to get a job done and done well.  The appreciation of doing something with skill and the willingness to practice endlessly to achieve it.  These and so many more things that are not recorded on your report cards.  Loyalty, integrity, commitment.  These things are the most important things in life and as parents we are charged with this educational task.  Adults will argue about whether we teach the proper names of body parts and yet overlook the essential values that make our children good citizens in our society.  God speed Marissa...may you find your path.  Momma will always be here to guide your footsteps.  I have a feeling though that Momma is going to have to hit the ground running every morning just to stay ahead to be your guide.
