A very happy Mother's Day indeed...you still call me baby!

I hope that everyone had a great Mother's Day.  I remember well the days in past where the excitement of everyone was lost on me.  Once my mother had passed there seemed no point to celebrate.  But today was a very special Mother's day for me.  We started the day in church where my beloved sang a song he wrote for me in front of the whole congregation.  You could have heard a pin drop.  Everyone at church has walked the path of Doug and my courtship, marriage and journey to parenthood.  I am humbled to be loved so much and so deeply by my family.

Here are the words to his song:
From the start of a journey on a dark gravel road
Then a little country church where our vows were told
Now side by side we made memories in time
How could we have known what God would provide?

This man would stand, bow his head in prayer
Asking God, please let me just get there
To a time and a place, she is standing in the sun
Where I hear a little voice for the first time call her MOM

Mommy get me this, and Mommy why is that
Mommy wipe my tears, Mommy watch me fly
Momma kiss us goodnight, man it's crazy
As you bend down I hear you whisper, maybe
They call you Mommy, but I still call you baby.

We were sitting on the porch swing so excited you and I
With a picture in your hand, all those years flew by
Standing on the Great Wall, holding his little hand
In our circle of life it was part of His plan

One day the phone rings, we can barely comprehend
There's a little girl, they ask can we come in
Now she's tucked in her bed, so now there are two
Voices in their rooms saying to you

Mommy get me this, and Mommy why is that
Mommy wipe my tears, Mommy watch me fly
Momma kiss us goodnight, man it's crazy
As you bend down I hear you whisper, maybe
They call you Mommy, but I still call you baby

What can you say when the whole church bursts into applause?  Such a personal Mother's Day message and shared with the entire congregation.  I am so blessed to be loved by this man.  We had a great day and the children were excited to give me their cards, and gifts.  I loved my special flowers, the garden gloves, and the strawberry white chocolate cake.  Added to the joy, was our tip toe trip to the barn to see the surprise little cat family that Daddy had been looking for.  Seems that a new stray cat has moved into our barn and has trusted Daddy enough to let him find her new little family born only a day ago.  What precious little babes.  We have not had kittens in the barn for seven years because Momma gets all the cats fixed right away.  Even the added expense of having to yet again capture a feral cat to get her spayed could not dampen our joy as we peered into the little cubby hole that this new Momma cat had found to safely shelter her babies in.  On top of all this excitement...who should pull in for a surprise visit...my son from another mother.  Seems love is thicker than blood because my nephew Nick had to come and wish his Aunt Audrey a very happy Mother's Day.  How could my heart be any more full?  We had a wonderful catch up visit and I finally got to meet his new love as well.  Wow what a great day...I am tired and ready to take on another week.  My cup is full!  I hope all other Mothers are also enjoying the memories and the joy of looking after those most dear to us.  Happy Mother's Day to you!
