Hay, hay, hay, hay, hay, hay...what about me!

I think of this tune from the 1970's every time we have to do hay.  I believe it goes like that but is spelled with a "Hey, hey, hey...what about me".  Anyway that is what I think of every time we have to do hay.  What you can see is a very happy farmer gathering up his round baled hay and an even more happy son who is having a tractor ride for the pick up of the last few bales.  Mark loves this time with his Daddy and as you can see he gets a bit irritated with the camera loving Momma who has to try to capture it all.  We are running ahead of the thunder storms that they are predicting for tonight.  All the bales are now safely lined up behind the barn and we have enough to feed our animals for the next year!  Whew.  Need to make sure of that because we are up to ten cows now.  Well actually six cows and four bull calves...yep finally our cow "Boots" dropped her calf on June 20th.  Lots of hay and lots of steaks in a few years...go figure, we always have heifer calves and now four bulls in a row!  We have to sell these ones but we are going to buy a yearling bull in the fall.  We cannot keep up to the production here and the herd is getting too big to take to the breeding farm.  A good sign that our efforts are paying off.  A tidy little retirement income is on the horizon!  Sleep tight boys it is 7:12 p.m. and they are both in bed fast asleep.  What a day we have had.
